Training & Development

As the green field and individually we are each called upon to undertake significant amounts of training in the creative services and digital sector. Over the last twelve we have worked with the BBC, Vision and Media, IBC, Econsultancy and a number of academic institutions including UCLAN, Bolton and Manchester Metropolitan University. Whilst we are engaged in craft skill development, our real focus has been on those areas not developed so readily in the workplace and academia – often because there is an assumption that they are innate within a person. By this we mean commercial skills and soft skills.

In terms of commercial skills, business development; pitching and selling; presentation skills are regularly taught individually or as part of our week-long 5 pillar Complete Digital Manager Programme. We similarly have developed a five day Multiplatform Foundation Production Programme that blends craft and commercial skills into one unit. In these programmes we avoid chalk and talk and run highly participatory sessions where individuals are encouraged to learn and immediately put into practice new skills.

Soft skills are often the poor relation of craft and commercial. We are firm believers in the importance of Emotional Intelligence and Daniel Goleman’s work on leadership. Without going overboard, we look to apply some of these psychological theories and make them accessible in the work place. We offer a number of workshops on team-building, management and leadership development using a number of industry standard tools such as Belbin Theory, MBTI and DiSC.
